Letters - Sensei John VanDeLaare
I regret to inform you all that Sensei John VanDeLaare passed away at approximately 5:10 am this morning, Sunday April 20th. He gave no signs before he passed and went very peacefully. Thank-you to everyone who expressed concern and well-wishes or came to visit. Cremation has already been arranged, but a visitation will be held both in Kalamazoo and Battle Creek for those who wish to attend.
I will have more details as to places and times when plans are finalized. I know John meant a lot to many of you and has had a great impact on many in the martial arts. He will be sorely missed. His family and I wish that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice House in Battle Creek for all of the wonderful care they gave him in his last days. I hope as many of you as possible will make it to one of the visitation/memorial ceremonies.
